Sleipnir
Sleipnir is an eight legged, flying horse and the stead of Odin. His name means slippery the slipper or the sliding one. He was born during the story of Loki trying to get a free wall for Asgard. Loki made a bet with a giant that he couldn’t finish the wall within a certain amount of time, but when it looked as though he would finish in time; Loki needed to distract the giant’s horse, so Loki transformed into a female horse and “distracted” the giant’s horse. During this distraction Loki got pregnant with Sleipnir and after giving birth to him entrusted him to Odin. Entrusting him to Odin further shows their bond in addition to them being blood brothers. Sleipnir may be related to the passage from life to death considering his association with Odin and that Hermod rode him during his journey to Hel.
